The client for this project requested that the residence reflect a modern ideology in its design as opposed to a more traditional or vernacular approach. The site itself is a typical lot of 5,000 sq.ft bordered by adjoining properties on three sides with a main access road to the front of the property.
In conformity with the program brief presented to us by the client, and the site topography, our solution was to create two cubes which defined the overall envelope of the house but which also, in section, divided the house into separate volumes based on their specific program requirements.
