The Tourism Development Company issued a request for proposals for the redevelopment of the Maracas Beach Facility. The mandate was that the standard of the beach facilities be improved, be environmentally sustainable, modern, clean and the design seek to provide business opportunities. This was a challenge GSAL Designs Ltd was more than willing to undertake. As architects our focus on problem solving and making improvements “green” was put into action. As a result the design that we submitted catered to making the area more user- friendly and efficient with room for future expansion. The plan proposed included roadway expansion to ease traffic issues, a boardwalk that went over the mangrove area at Maracas to promote environment appreciation, additional parking areas and beach facilities, such as washrooms and vendor stalls.
